Background
The North East Party was founded in 2014. We are a progressive regionalist party that contests local elections and parliamentary seats in the North East of England (from Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland local authority boundaries northwards to the Scottish border). We ultimately aim for the North East to have its own elected regional assembly that would replace the twelve unitary authorities and hold significant powers and protected budgets. Our current leader is Brian David Moore. He can be contacted on 07825050704 Local Government In 2017 we won three seats on Durham County Council and gained majority control of Peterlee Town Council. We have a number of councillors on other Town and Parish councils in the region. Parliamentary Elections We have contested the 2015, 2017 and 2019 General Elections. We are the only English regionalist party to have kept our deposit at a Westminster election (Easington Constituency in 2017). |
